Item 4 Whisky in a jar

Royal Salute Sapphire Decanter
21yr old blended whisky

This rich and complex whisky from Chivas is aged for 21 years in oak casks before bottling in handcrafted porcelain flagons.

Royal Salute was launched on 2nd June 1953 as a tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on her Coronation Day. The name of this exceptional Scotch Whisky comes from the 21 Gun Royal Salute, which is fired as a mark of respect for powerful dignitaries.

At her coronation, the crown of Queen Elizabeth II was set in rubies, sapphires and emeralds. These precious stones remain the inspiration for the colours of Royal Salute's handcrafted flagons, therefore bottle colours vary.

Joel Kirk was born in Dorking in 1948 and has worked as a freelance artist for a number of publishing houses.

Joel is kept busy with commissions from wildlife organisations from all over the world. Joel's long and illustrious career as an artist has taken him all over the world to study wildlife in its natural habitat. This research has given him a unique insight into the habits of his subjects allowing him to paint with both accuracy and affection. Although he has experimented successfully with a variety of media, his first love is pastels as these give him the ability to work fast and effectively on location. The consequent velvety texture and subtlety of tones with shadows and highlights bring a unique realism to his portrayals and have earned him a wide and enthusiastic following.
